Many thanks for your letter containing your new address and for the lovely photographs. May I wish you all great happiness in your new home - it looks charming both inside and in its surroundings.  The children are lovely - and obviously enjoying the suburban setting.  Matthew looks like a sturdy little chap1 with athletic ambitions, ready for the finishing tape2 as the winner of the 100 meters!  Anne is a charming girl in her white dress. Give her my congratulations on her graduation.  It would be a lovely occasion for all of you.

My family news is that Andrew has left Britannica Telecom. He had been dealing with the harmonization3 of the Asian telephone systems and was traveling constantly.  His current job as a systems consultant is home-based4 and enables him to spend more time with family and children. We have had an anxious year in that, Angela, my late5 brother's widow, has not been well and is now in a residential home6 near Kowloon.  It's a long way from where I am, but I do visit her once or twice every month.  Pam and I are going to a family wedding (cousin's son) in Bangkok, Thailand this week, not too far away from the hotel you stayed while you were visiting last year. I was sorry not to be free and able to join you then.

Grace - I have not had a letter from Yu Yuemin for quite some time.  Do you know of her present situation?  Only last week I met Betty in Shenzheng. She is doing a course at the University of Shenzheng and is due to return to Shanghai in August.  Betty asks always for you7.  She is doing very well and keeping herself busy. My love to John and kids.
